I'm back...

Sorry it's been a few days since I've written. I've been a pretty sleepy boy. I'm only awake for short periods of time and that's when I need to get changed and eat. I usually wake up every 2 hours, but at night I've been waking up every 4 hours, which mommy and daddy really like. =)

Things are going well at our house. We're adjusting to life together as a family and each day gets better and better. Mommy says I'm looking more and more like my uncle Brent everyday.

Yesterday I got to try out my swing. It was fun to do something different. As you can see in my picture I really like my pacifier. I already try and hold it in my mouth so it doesn't fall out. I don't always remember to do that, but I do it quite a lot and mommy and daddy think it's so funny that I do that. I really don't know why they think it's funny because sometimes I get angry when it falls out, so why not hold it in?

If you haven't seen my hospital pics you can check them out at http://www.our365.com/NewbornPortraits/HospitalBabyDetail.aspx?birthid=db17053d-1583-438e-b668-57923d3cc92b&babyid=62c1ecde-9dc0-4b0f-9066-32f7e5907373

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for checking in on me!

One week old!

It's hard to believe it's been one weeks since I was born. Mommy isn't sure where that week went. Time sure does fly.

Today some friends of mommy's came over to meet me. Kelli came this morning, and Mandy, Olivia and Sarah came down from Waterloo this afternoon. It was fun for mommy to see them and I love meeting new people and have them hold me. They were also so nice to bring mommy and I nice gifts. I must admit, I'm being spoiled.

Not much else happening today. Hope you have a good weekend!

Outing today...

Last night I had my first bath since I've been home. It went pretty much the same as the one the nurse gave me at the hospital. I didn't mind it too much until they took me out of the water. Ahhh...I hated that! It was so cold, I screamed and screamed. Daddy quickly got me wrapped up and calmed down and I was ok, but yuck, it was cold coming out of that warm water.

Today I got to get out of the house and go to the pediatrician. Mom and dad aren't quite used to managing their time to get themselves ready, me ready and get where we're going on time. But, they did alright for their first time. My appointment was at 11:00. We were supposed to arrive 15 minutes early, but we walked in at 11:05. Mom considered that a success! =) I got a good report from my dr. We spent the rest of the day just hanging out at home. Dad took care of me while mom got a nap and some things done around the house.

That's all for now. It's almost time for a clean diaper, a full bottle and some more sleep. Life is good!

First couple nights...

My first day/night home I was a good boy. I met my puppy dog, Marlie and she was really interested in me. She wasn't sure what to think, but was a good dog and was gentle while she sniffed my feet and blankets. My first night sleeping at home I was pretty easy on mommy and daddy. I woke up every 2-3 hours to get changed, eat and I'd go right back to sleep.

My second day home uncle Brent and Amy came to visit me. It was fun to see Brent again and to meet Amy. Marlie checks on me in my bassinet if I make any little noise, she likes to make sure I'm ok. Once she sees I'm in there, she goes and lays down. Mom and dad say she's being a good dog. My second night at home I was up a little more than the first night, but not too bad. Mommy wasn't sure if I was still hungry or if I had a belly ache. She's still not sure but in the end, I ate and went back to sleep. Thursday a nurse came over to our house to check mommy and I over to make sure we're doing ok. Mommy and I both got good reports. I'm doing what I should be and mommy is healing well. Tonight I'm going to get a bath and tomorrow I go see my pediatrician. I'll let you know how that goes.

I'll give this a try...

Hello -
It's Cohen. I officially arrived in this world on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 3:26 p.m. I wasn't due until the 27th, but here I am! Mommy went to her regular check up on Friday the 18th and her blood pressure was really high. Her dr told her he thought she'd be having a baby soon. Mommy was a little surprised, and was really surprised that by "soon" he meant that night/the next day. Mommy couldn't even go home, she had to go right to labor and delivery. So, off she went, called daddy and told him I would be coming soon. Mommy called my grandmas and grandpas and let them know I'd be arriving soon. Once mom got to labor and delivery they put a monitor on her belly to listen to me. I was just fine. I was happy as could be and not really ready to be born. They did some tests on mom that all came back fine, and showed she did not have pre-eclampsia, but her blood pressure was staying high. Daddy soon arrived and mommy was admitted to the hospital. That night they gave mommy medicine (cervadil) to start inducing her. She had that through the night and it gave her a few contractions, but nothing too bad. She was pretty uncomfortable though because she couldn't get out of bed because of her blood pressure. Early Saturday morning they gave her more medicine (pitocin) to get her contractions going. After 1 hour of that mom had 2 or 3 contractions and she did NOT like them. Her dr came in to check on her around 9:00 that morning and mommy still hadn't made any progress. So she asked the dr if they could just cut me out. The dr thought that was probably a good idea and would end up that way anyway even if they kept trying the medicine. I was still doing well, and mommy was feeling better knowing she didn't have to have any more contractions! They took mommy into surgery around 2:30 p.m. Daddy was with her, and Grandpa & Grandma Cota, and Grandpa and Grandma Dahlstrom, and uncle Brent were waiting. I came out screaming, and had to pee really bad. I went pee 3 times right after I came out. My daddy came right over to see me and take picturs of me. Then this lady and daddy brought me over so I could see my mommy's face. Soon mommy, daddy and I were all in the recovery room together and mommy got to hold me. Daddy carried me while they took mommy to our room. I got to meet those who were waiting for us and got my picture taken A LOT! My Grandma Cota was excited to come see me the next day. We stayed in the hospital for a few days and came home Tuesday.
