I'm Sick

This morning I woke up just before 7 and I couldn't breathe very well. It scared me. I went in to get Mom but it was even hard for her to hear me because of my raspy voice. She did though and it didn't take long for her to know what was going on. Dad got up right away too.

Mom got the hot shower running while Dad sat in there with me Mom called the 24 hour nurse to see what they should do. The nurse told her a few things to check and said they were doing the right thing.

This afternoon mom and dad decided they should take me in. Mom was going to but I didn't want to leave Dad stop he took me.

They poked my finger so they could run some tests to make sure I didn't have anything else. They told Dad they were doing that more for Blythe's case than mine. It made mom and dad feel better, even though I got so upset when they poked my finger that I threw up. :(

The Dr. prescribed me one dose of a steroid to get me on the road to recovery. It's been a long day. Hopefully I'm feeling better tomorrow!

First Snow of the Season

Today was our first big snow of the winter season. I was very excited when Mom and Dad told me it was going to snow. When I woke up this morning I looked out the front windows, the back windows and grinned.

My school was cancelled today because of the snow. My friend, Andrea didn't have school either so she came to our house to hang out with Mom, Blythe and I. Andrea and I had fun playing all day.

When Dad got home I 'practiced' getting my snow gear on (we're supposed to practice at home for school). Mom said I did great. I got everything on pretty much all by myself. Dad and I went out to shovel next to the garage and the walk up to our front door. I LOVED being out in the snow.

I thought it was funny to throw snowballs at Dad while he shoveled too. I'm so excited for winter and snow this year!!

My Christmas Program

I had my Christmas program at school tonight. Grandpa Cota, Brent, Kari and Reese all  came down to watch me. Grandpa and Grandma Dahlstrom were planning to come but something came up that they couldn't make it.

My friends and  I sang, "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree", "All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."

I had a lot of fun singing.

I Love My Cars

Yesterday Mom asked me if I loved cars. I said, "So much!" I spend so much time playing with my cars from Disney Cars and Cars 2. I have a book with all the cars in it. I love to go through the book and look at the cars I have. Here is a picture of me checking out cars with my book.

Attention...

I was talking into my "microphone" (tag on my snugglie) and said, "Attention Regan! We have found a guy to play xbox with me. My dad. See you later, Mom!"

Santa!

Today I got to see Santa. My friend, Joey's Mom and Dad hosted a Santa Party. They invited a bunch of Joey's friends and they invited Santa and Mrs. Claus! He came from the North Pole just for the party. He told us he had his reindeer and sleigh parked in a barn just outside of town and he rode in a truck to Joey's house.

He read us the Night Before Christmas and then we each got to go sit on his lap. He fave each of us a little bag of goodies and even brought each kid a gift! I got a 'Moon Lightning' car! It was on my list. The first time I sat on his lap he talked to me about the things I've done well this year, like brushing my teeth, picking up my toys, listening to Mom and Dad but I need to work out trying new foods. I forgot to tell him what I wanted for Christmas so I had to go back up and tell him. I told him I wanted,  'Gunner Acer, Sidley and Leland Turbo.'

Blythe sat on his lap too but she was sleeping the whole time. He did bring her a gift though!

It was such a fun morning with my friends and with Santa and Mrs. Claus!

What Now?

The other night I was in bed and Mom, Dad and their friends, Eric and Wendy were in the living room watching their tv show they watch every week. Blythe started crying and I asked what she was crying about. Dad said she was hungry. A  little time passed and she started crying again. I threw my bedroom door open, stepped out and said, "WHAT NOW?" :)

Blythe's Hair

The other night Blythe was laying on the floor and I was sitting by her. I looked her over, then looked at Mom and Dad, who were sitting on the couch and I said, "she's running out of hair!" Mom and Dad thought that was funny. I'm not sure what's so funny about it....she is running out of hair!!

Busy Boy

I've been keeping busy getting ready for Christmas. At school we're learning songs that I've been practicing at home for our Christmas program that's coming up.

I've also been busy with my advent calendars. I have one that I put an ornament on the tree each morning. Then I have two chocolate calendars. I get to open a little door and there's a piece of chocolate in there. I got one from Grandpa and Grandma Dahlstrom that's a Cars one and one from my great aunt/Godmother, Brigid. I'm a pretty lucky boy and I'm having so much fun with them all.

Dad and I went Christmas shopping on Sunday for Mom and Marlie. I picked out something special for both of them.

I'm getting pretty excited about all the presents under our tree. I have been watching for ones with my name on them but I'm a very good boy not to try to open them...not until Christmas!!

A Few Funnies

I have a Cars 2 Xbox game that I love to play. Recently I started calling it my 'work'. When I head down stairs to play I say, "I gotta go to work now" and down I go to play. Mom and Dad thought it was pretty funny.

Today Mom, Blythe and I were at Kohls. As we were walking through the store I said, "I like this song." Mom said, "I didn't know you you knew this song." I said, "My favorite part is 'Dad Gum' part". Mom paused as she listed a little bit and then she laughed. 'Dad Gum' is something Mater from Cars says on the "Mater Toons" DVD. He has a song he sings called "Dad Gum". Mom said she could understand why I thought the song was saying Dad Gum - it did sort of sound like it. I still think that's what they were saying. :)

One of my favorite sayings is "sugar". Whenever something doesn't go my way, I drop something, or it's just not working out I say, "Oh sugar!" Mom and Dad think it's pretty funny.

Christmas is Coming

We've been busy getting ready for Christmas around here. I told you about decorating the tree. Well, Mom and I did a little shopping the other day. I picked out a present for Blythe and something for Daddy from Blythe and I.

I also have been busy practicing songs for my preschool Christmas program. Mom and Dad have been entertained by that. They said they're looking forward to seeing my friends and I perform our songs.

I'm sure Mom will take pictures and video to share with you.

I'm excited for other Christmas activities we have coming up. I know we're going to see Santa soon. I can't wait to give him my list.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day we spent most of the day at home. That evening we went to our friend's, The Phillips' house who live just down the street. They invited us over to their house for dinner. We originally were planning to go visit family around Waukon and Harpers but decided to wait to do that on Saturday. Well that didn't work out either since I woke up sick with a cold on Saturday.

I had a lot of fun playing with Joey though at their house. He likes Cars too so we played Cars together. We both loved it!

On Friday we spent  the day at home decorating for Christmas. I helped decorate the Christmas tree. The first ornaments I put on were my ornaments Mom and Dad got me for this year. I get one (or two) every year. This year I got a Mater ornament and a wooden race car that looks like Lightning McQueen. Mom put a "95" sticker on it and it has my name on it.

Family Fun

Yesterday I had such a fun day! It started by us all driving to Cedar Falls. Dad and I went to the UNI Panther men's basketball game with Uncle Dolly, Kari, Reese and Grandpa.  Uncle Dolly has court side seats so we were really close to the action. He also has a suite so we got to go up in that for a little while too. I was way up high in there.

After the game we all went to Uncle Dolly and Aunt Kari's house for a Thanksgiving celebration. I love going there. I got to go for a golf cart ride, putt the ball on the golf course, play pool, play with Reese and we pretended to play Wheel of Fortune AND I had cake! I love cake!

I came up from playing pool and said, "Uncle Dolly, I was thinking.....we could.....starts with a 'G'." He knew what I was talking about....a GOLF CART RIDE!! He's the best uncle!

I was so tired by the time we left I zonked out on the car ride home. What a great day!

Something to Remember

Today I picked Mom's cell phone up off the end table and brought it over to her. I said, "Here's your phone. It was shivering." She smiled. I guess what it was actually doing was vibrating - not shivering.

Preschool Conferences

This morning Mom had my preschool parent teacher conference. Dad stayed home with Blythe and I. Mom came back and said I got a good report. My teacher Ms. Allison told Mom that I am a smart little boy and a sweet kid. She told Mom mostly things she already knew - that I knew all my letters, and the sounds they make, I can count to 100, I seem to love learning and that I am a good boy. She also told Mom that I do a good job of participating in everything we do at school. Mom and Dad weren't sure how much I actually participated because they both took me on a field trip and apparently they thought I wasn't paying much attention to what was going on and gawking around. They were pleased to hear I do a good job of participating.

Some things Ms. Allison suggested we work on are keeping my hand on the table when I write, balancing on one foot and skipping.

Happy Halloween

I have had a great Halloween. This year I dressed up as The Lorax and Granny made my costume for me. I LOVED it!

Over the weekend Mom and Dad took me to Harpers so I could go to the kid's Halloween party there.

Yesterday I had a Halloween party at school. We had a carnival where we played games like bean bag toss and bowling and won prizes. After that we had a costume parade where our parents could come see us in our costumes. We each had an instrument we used and said, "Happy Halloween!" as we paraded around outside.

This morning when I woke up Mommy made my jack-o-lantern pancake for breakfast. We are making that a tradition - second year in a row. :) For dinner we had jack-o-lantern pizza and then Daddy and I went trick-or-treating while Mommy and Blythe stayed home. It was a little too cold for Blythe and Mommy isn't ready to walk that much yet. Dad and I went with Jesse, Christine, Parker and Bella. I got a lot of candy!
After we went in our neighborhood we and the Holtans went to Dan and MaryKay's house and played for awhile.

Mommy and I (well really just Mommy) carved a Lightning McQueen pumpkin for me. I thought it should have a "95" on it but I still liked it.

All in all it was a great Halloween!

I kept saying 'it's so fun to trick or treat." All day I was so excited to go out and trick or treat. Fun, fun day!!!

Back to School

I had a little fall break from school which happened to fall over the time my baby sister was born. We had our field trip on Tuesday but today was my first day back at school. I took a picture of me holding Blythe to show my classmates and I took little Hershey candy bars that mom made a label for announcing I'm a big brother. I also got an award from my teacher for being the best big brother! It was a fun first day back.

I'm a Big Brother!!

I've been waiting and waiting and the day finally came - Wednesday, October 10, 2012 I became a big brother to Blythe Marie. I was a little cautious around her at first, but interested to meet her.

Tuesday Grandma Dahlstrom came to our house and spent the night. When I woke up Wednesday morning Mom and Dad had already left to go to the hospital. They had to be there by 6:30 in the morning. That's early! Mom was scheduled to have her surgery at 8:30 but I guess she had to wait a little longer because there was another baby that needed to be born right away. It was only about a half hour though so at 9:22 a.m. my baby sister was born.

I got to go meet her around 11:30. Grandma took me there and Grandpa and Grandma Cota and Granny all came too. Mom and Dad let me go in the room and meet Blythe first. After I got to meet her then my grandparents came in and I got to introduce her to them and tell them her name. I had known her name for a couple months and kept it a secret that whole time. If anyone would ask I would tell them, "It's a SURPRISE!!"

After our first visit we headed back home and came back later when Grandpa Dahlstrom and Uncle Brent, Aunt Kari and Reese came.

The next day Grandpa and Grandma Cota came back to our house to stay with me. I got to visit Mom, Dad and Blythe a couple times a day while they were at the hospital and Dad came home a couple times. Friday night he even came home to do our bedtime routine. :)

We're all working on getting into a new normal around our house but so far it seems to be alright. My little sister hasn't changed things too much - yet. :) Mom and Dad say I'm doing a good job at being a big brother. I think I'm pretty good at it too.
