I don't like long naps...

Lately Mom and Dad haven't been having me take naps in the afternoon unless we have something going on that night. For awhile if I didn't nap I was a wreck by 6:00 p.m. and nothing made sense to me. Lately though, I can skip my nap and I'm still functional and happy (as long as I'm fed) until bed time - around 8:30 - 9:00. When I don't have a nap I fall asleep much quicker than I was when I'd take a 2 hour nap. Those nights I could lay in bed for over an hour chatting away.

However, almost every night when going to bed I ask if it's a "long nap or a short nap". Mom and Dad tell me this is the long one and I let them know that "I don't like taking long naps".

Last night Mom woke to me calling her - neither of us are sure what time it was but if we had to guess we'd say between 2:30 and 3:00 a.m. Mom met me at my door right away and asked what was wrong. I asked if my nap was over and if I could get up yet. She told me no, it was still night time. I wasn't crying but I sounded a little sad. When she asked why I was sad I told her, "because I don't like taking long naps". But, like the good boy that I am I listened to her and got back in bed to sleep a little longer.

I guess she's right...I need to recharge my batteries so I can play hard the next day too. :)

Week 2 of Swimming Lessons

Today was my 2nd swimming lesson. Mom was a little unsure of how it would go because I wasn't as excited about going and said I didn't want to go. But once we got there she said I did great.

We jump in the pool and our instructor catches us. Last time I would only jump in if he would hold my hands. The first two times today I wanted to hold his hands while I jump but while I was waiting in line Mom came over and encouraged me to try jumping in without holding his hands. She said if I tried we could get a treat afterward so I was brave. I tried it and I DID IT! She said she was very, very proud of me. I was pretty proud of myself too. I came out of the water with a BIG smile on my face, looked down and Mom and said, "I DID IT!" :) We both were happy.

I told you about last weekend when I accidentally went to far into the water and it went over my nose...well today he wanted me to come off the steps, have us hold onto the side of the wall and scoot our way down the wall. I was very, very afraid to do that. My teacher tried to pull me out and get me to do it but was nervous and hanging on for dear life. I was not about to let that happen where I was too far in the water again. Mom came down and told me I was ok. She said, I would be ok. She told Dad she almost cried because she felt so bad for how scared I looked. My teacher came down and Mom explained to him why I was so afraid so he helped me go down the wall and then I was brave and went back by myself. I just need to build my confidence back up a little.

All in all it went well and when I was done and ran over to Mom and told her, "That was FUN!!" :) When we got home I did get a treat for jumping in all by myself. I got one of my favorites...a peanut butter cup! YUM!

Fun Weekend!

I told you about going to the fair Friday night. Well Saturday was another fun day. In the morning Daddy took me to my Blastball Pool Party at the city swimming pool. I played in the splash pad, in the kiddie pool and went down the water slide.  I had so much fun there! When we were leaving I asked Daddy if we could come back again sometime and guess what! He said, "YES!" I can't wait to go back again!

After swimming, Dad and I went and met Mommy, Grandma D, and Peggy for lunch at Red Robin. I love going there, but I didn't want a balloon that day.

From there Dad and I went home and later Grandma, Mom and Peggy came back. I went back to Grandma and Grandpa's house with Grandma and Peggy. That night they surprised me with a trip to Chuck E. Cheese! When Grandma told me she was thinking we'd go there I said, "NO WAY!!" We did and I got so many tickets....300!

On Sunday we went to church and then I went shopping with Grandma and Peggy. We even got to go to Toys R Us! My favorite store!! While we were driving to shop Peggy played the song, "Alice the Camel" for me in her car and I requested it over and over - and have sang it for Mom and Dad several times since. It was an instant hit with me.

Later Sunday Mom and Dad came and picked me up and Grandma, Peggy, Mom, Dad, Mitch, Rachel and I all went out for pizza. It was such a fun day!

County Fair

Tonight Mom and Dad took me to the Jones County Fair. It was all of our first time going to this county fair but my first time going to any county fair. It was a little overwhelming at first with all the lights, sounds, rides and people but I ended up having fun.

My favorite things with a race car game. I stood and watched people race remote controlled race cars (while I munched on my popcorn) for at least an hour over the entire time we were at the fair. Before we left Dad and I raced a car ourselves. I picked to be the #18 M&M car....it's my favorite. :)

Dad and I also went on the bumper cars. I thought that was REALLY fun! I played one game where I used a magnetic fishing pole to catch fish and win a prize. I won a HUGE inflatable hockey stick.

We also saw a "one man band" there. I thought that was funny because I have a book that talks about a one man band but I had never actually seen one in real life.

I'm glad we got to go the fair. It was fun to go do something different.

Fun Visitors

Last week mom's cousins, Bailey and Brinley came to stay with us for a few days. They came and watched my Blastball game, we went to a movie, and had all kinds of fun at home.

I liked played xbox with them and other silly games we made up...one I called "Wabam". :)

Football Fun

Yesterday morning I started the Little Tykes Football program. Dad took time from work so he and Mom could both watch me.

We did a few football drills, like throwing and catching the ball, we also played a little game of flag football. It was kind of hot outside but they gave us a couple breaks to get drinks of water.

I was supposed to have a Blastball make up game that got canceled because of heat but it got canceled again because it was too hot again. Uncle Dolly, Kari, Reese, Grandpa and Grandma D. were planning to come watch me but since it was canceled we just played at our house and then went to a restaurant for dinner. It was fun!

Swimming Lessons

Today I started swimming lessons at the YMCA. I guess I took some with dad when I was 9 months old but I haven't been back since. This time I don't go in the pool with Mom or Dad. I just go in by myself...with my class and teacher of course. There are two other kids in my class.

I was pretty excited about going. When we first got there I was surprised how big the pool was. I said, "this is a lot bigger than my pool! This is a racing pool!" (referring to the pool I saw on tv while watching the olympic swimming trials).

I got off to a bit of a rough start. We were asked to get in the pool and sit on the steps. I didn't listen very well and kept going...right into the pool which was over my nose. It startled me a little but I didn't freak out too badly. My teacher picked me up and put me back. I was a little more nervous from then on out than I probably would have been had that not happened but I still did a good job, Mom said.

I practiced floating by using a board, I jumped in the water (holding on to the teacher's hands) and practiced kicking my legs.

I'm looking forward to going back next week!

Outdoor Movie & Popcorn - Check

We did something new and really fun last night. We had it on our Summer Fun list - to do an outdoor movie with my friends! Mom even made us popcorn in our 'movie theater popcorn maker'. We also had M&Ms and juice boxes. Parker, Andrea, Brinley, Bailey and I (Along with Josh, Karen, Jesse, Mom and Dad) watched Rio in our backyard. Dad set up his new projector, taped a big white sheet to the side of the house and Josh brought a sound system from his classroom.

We sat in our lawn chairs, ate our snacks and watched the movie. It was a fun night! Mom said we can plan to do it again sometime.

Splash pad and Picnic - check, check

Out for Frozen Yogurt - Check

One thing we had on our Summer Fun list was go to get frozen yogurt at Orange Leaf. It's so yummy! They have so many flavors to chose from. I decided on chocolate....really a no brainer for me. Oh, and I tried a little bit of cookies and cream too. Then they have a bunch of yummy toppings. I wanted M&Ms and peanut butter cups on mine. Delicious!

Slip and Slide - Check

The slip and slide is another thing we had on our Summer Fun list. Yesterday Dad  set up a BIG slip and slide for me. He had set it up one other day earlier in the summer but it was too windy and it kept blowing away. Yesterday was perfect for it though. I had so much fun on it we decided to keep it out two days. Today Joey, Parker, Andrea and I all played on it.

I got to where I could go really fast and a long way on it.

My First Shiner

A couple weeks ago I was playing with my race cars at the kitchen table. I fell off the chair and bumped the corner of my eye on the table. The next morning I had a pretty impressive "purple eye". It only hurt a few days but took awhile for the purple to go away.

First Trip to Rendezvous

In June Grandpa and Grandma Cota took me to the Rendezvous in Prairie for the first time. Mommy came too. She had been there before but not for a long, long time. At first I was being a little naughty but then once I saw all the near stuff there I was a better boy.
I saw buffalo hide, skunk and raccoon skin hats, turtle shells...all kinds of neat things! My favorite things I saw were bows and arrows. I got to get a crossbow and arrows. It's so fun to shoot. I can even cock it, put the arrows in and shoot it all by myself.

Baby Frogs

We have a bunch of baby frogs that hop around our back yard. Parker and I love to catch them and put them in our bug catchers. We always have to let them go before we come in for the night but we have fun catching them and watching them for awhile. Sometimes Daddy finds big frogs and catches them fot us to look at. Just another fun thing to do in the summer!

One day I was playing outside with my race cars and I saw some baby frogs. Mom let me get my bug catcher and catch them. I thought it would be fun for my cars to watch the frogs. :)

Bathtime for the Guys

Mom decided my guys needed a washing. I was a little unsure of throwing them both in at the same time but mom insisted it would be best so I agreed. I thought it was fun watching them spin around and soak in the bubbles. I said, "I see a snugglie part!"

Just curious...

Lately when Mom or Dad ask me to do something like pick up my toys or put my laundry in the hamper I ask, "how do you know everything I need to do?"I mean they always seem to know the things I'm supposed to do...just wondering how. :)

Just A Sunday Morning

Dad and I hanging out on the couch. He's working, I'm watching videos on You Tube. Life is good.
