Easter and I am SIX

This year my birthday fell on Easter weekend. That made for a busy weekend for our family but a very FUN weekend too.

Friday before my birthday we drove to Harpers and spend the night at Granny's house. Saturday morning we got up and Mom had decorated a little bit for my birthday. When she put me to bed Friday night she told me that it was the last time I was going to bed as a five year old. I had to think about that. Once it sunk in I thought that was pretty cool and had to tell Granny and Dad. :)

Harpers Egg Hunt
So I woke up Saturday and saw the decorations. We played for awhile and we all got ready to go the Easter Egg hunt. Grandpa C. met us there and hunted eggs with us.

After the egg hunt it was time for my birthday party at Grandpa and Grandma C.'s house. I was so excited when I got out to their house. There were Batman and Superman decorations everywhere. I kept showing Mom all the awesome decorations - not realizing she was the one who had bought them all. I thought Grandpa and Grandma did it all but Mom thought that was ok.

My party was great. I celebrated with my parents, grandparents and great grandparents on Mom's side as well as my great aunt and uncle, Ron and Brig.

We had lunch, I opened gifts and then we had cake. I was pretty excited about the cake Mom made for me.

Grandpa C. surprised me and put my birthday up on the information sign at the four way stop when you come into Harpers. So many people commented on it to me at the Easter Egg hunt. I hadn't seen it yet but after that Mom and Grandpa took me over to see it. I thought it was pretty cool!

After my party we cleaned up, packed up and headed back to our house. We had to get ready for Easter Sunday.

Me and my Easter Basket
Sunday morning I woke up and found that the Easter Bunny had been there and brought Blythe and I Easter baskets. I had dressed like Superman and emptied my basket before anyone else got up that morning.

Me with the map the Easter Bunny left
hunting for eggs.
When Blythe got up she found one of the eggs we had dyed. The Easter Bunny had hid them for us. Then we also found a map next to our Easter baskets. The Easter Bunny hid a bunch of candy filled eggs outside and he made me a map for them. It was fun following the map to the eggs. Some were kind of tricky to find but I did find them all. :)

Ready for the Egg Hunt at Sunnyside.
After that we all got ready and headed to Waterloo to have Easter brunch with Daddy's side of the family at the Country Club. We ate then they had an Easter Egg hunt there too. I found 24 eggs there!

After that we headed to Grandpa and Grandma's house to relax and for Sisser to have a nap before my birthday celebration with family.

We went to Chuck E. Cheese and it was so fun! Since it was Easter there was almost no one else there. Only a few other people - it was great! We had pizza, I opened gifts and had cake again.

The highlight of my birthday party there was I hit the ticket jackpot on one of the games I was playing. You would spin this wheel and whatever number it landed on was how many tickets your won. Well I was lucky and landed on 125 which was the most you could win! It was so exciting!!
JACKPOT!!

I had such a fun birthday and got so many great gifts, including Legos, clothes, garden tools, a new swimming pool, a Superman figure, Spiderman ball, money, a kite, bubbles, fruit snacks, dry erase board, more Legos, xBox game and a Batman suit.

On Monday it was back to school and I celebrated my birthday there. They had a special birthday crown for me to wear. When it's your birthday and you're wearing your birthday crown you get Smarties candy at lunch. I also brought birthday treats that Mom made. She made individual LEGO cakes for me to share. I thought they were pretty neat and my friends did too. Dad surprised me by having lunch with me at school that day too. Mom and Blythe were going to come but Blythe woke up sick that day so they had to stay home.

I'm a lucky, lucky boy and can't wait to see what being six has in store for me.

Dying Easter Eggs

We spent the Thursday evening before Easter coloring Easter Eggs. This year Blythe got to color an egg too. It was a fun time as always!

Cheering on the Cyclones

We had a fun time cheering on the Cyclone Men's Basketball team to the Sweet 16 this year. It became a 'ritual' of sorts that I had to wear my #32 basketball jersey and Blythe and I would have popcorn and red and yellow M&Ms for a snack on game day. We were bummed when they got beat but we all had fun with it while it lasted.

Swimming Lessons

I started swimming lessons a couple weeks ago at Coe College. It was my first time going there and it went really well. I was already a lot more comfortable in the water this year so that helped but they also teach lessons very differently than where I went in the past and started to make great progress. I did eight classes over two weeks now I have a two week break before I go back for another eight classes.

After that I'm going to try lessons at the new Aquatic Center at our local high school. It recently opened and they will be starting them there for summer. If we like it as well as the ones I'm in now I'll stay there otherwise I'll head back to Coe since that's going so well.

I love being in the pool and always look forward to going. It's one thing I really love to do.

Jumping in the water - I've got that down.

Fun in the Sun

Yesterday was an AWESOME day! We had great weather and a day full of fun with neighbor friends! They day started with a neighborhood Easter Egg hunt. Our neighbors hosted it. Blythe fell asleep right before so she couldn't come and I had to pick up her eggs for her.

When Mom and I got home my friends and I met outside and we played all day long! It was 81 degrees here and we played in the sprinkler, in the pool (even though the water was cold), on the playset, in the sandbox and back and forth between our, Holtan's and Reznicow's yards. We played from 11:00 a.m. until about 6:00 p.m. We were tired but what a great day it was!!

Checking out our eggs!

Long day of too much fun!

Family Fun Night

We had Family Fun night at school a couple weeks ago. We had a pizza dinner there, then in each classroom there was a different kind of game, like cake walk, duck pond, hole in one game...all kinds of fun little carnival type games.

In the gym they had some big inflatables for kids to play on and then a silent auction in the library for our parents. It's the PTO's big fund raiser of the year. It's a lot of fun for kids! My favorite part was the inflatables.
