I've decided I should test out Mom and Dad with my toddler and bed and see just what I can get away with. The last couple days I've been getting out of my bed and going out of my room after they put me down for a nap or bedtime.
Yesterday at nap time I won! After an hour of Mom putting me back in my bed over and over she broke and I won! Last night at bedtime I was exhausted but I still gave it a go. That lasted about a half hour and I was done.
Today at nap time Mom came in ready for a victory....and she got it. I put up a good effort though. I think she and I both lost count on how many times she had to put me back in my bed but it was A LOT! I'd be crawling back out before she'd even get the door closed for the majority of it. After about an hour I started to wear down and it was 1 hour and 8 minutes before I gave in and fell asleep.
I'll keep you posted on who wins the bedtime battle.

Fun day today...
Today my Grandpa Cota came to visit! Mom told me he was going to be coming and I bet she'll never do that again because after she told me that I stood at the window and every car that went by I asked, "Grandpa Cota?" Finally it was him!!! We played and had fun! After a couple of hours he put me down for my nap and by the time I woke up he had gone home. We sure had fun though! Then tonight Mom, Dad and I went to the Cyclone Tailgate. I got to see Cy and Dad got to
see the guy he's idolized since he was a kid, Fred Hoiberg! I didn't see what the big deal was about that though. But I did LOVE seeing Cy! I have him a high five and everything. While we were there I got a 'sticker' (temporary tattoo), a sucker, a rice krispie treat, and a coloring book and crayons! They had big inflatable slides and things to jump on but Mom and Dad said I was too small this year. Maybe next year....

Uno...dos.....tres....
I surprised Mom and Dad yesterday by counting in Spanish. Mom said about a week ago she heard me jabbering and thought that maybe she heard me say some numbers in Spanish but she wasn't sure. Well yesterday I started doing it again and she told Dad about the last time. Dad was pretty skeptical so he asked me, "Can you count in Spanish?" and off I went, "Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve diez.". Yeah, they were quite surprised considering they never once have ever tried teaching me to count in Spanish. I guess we can thank my friends, Dora and Diego for that one. :)

Dahlstrom Family Fun...
Last night we went to Uncle Dolly and Kari's house to celebrate Mom and Brent's birthdays and Mother's Day. I had so much fun there. They have the biggest yard ever. They live on a golf course and I got to run out there and play in big sandboxes (sand traps) and see ponds an ride on Dolly's golf cart. And they have a little koi pond in their front yard. I loved watching the fish swim around in that. It was so fun!
Mom brought her camera so she could take advantage of the pretty view. She took some pictures of me. She thought some of them turned out pretty well. I was just excited to run around and play.

2 year check-up
I forgot to update you on my appointment I had on Wednesday. Everything went pretty well. I had to get one shot, which I didn't even cry for. I also had to get my finger poked so they could test my iron and lead levels. I didn't cry for that either! That made it easier on Mom I think. :)
I weighed 23.8 lbs (7th percentile) and was 35" tall (68th percentile).
My doctor said I'm "not the biggest guy in the world" but he is not concerned about my weight at all because I'm "following a curve" meaning I've been growing at a steady pace. There have been no major increases or decreases in the last 2 years. Same goes for my height and head circumference.
Mom asked him about how I don't eat much and rarely eat meat. He told her if I eat one good meal a day that's about what to expect from a 2 year old. And he said I could take a multi-vitamin with iron since I'm not much a meat eater. He said that is also common in kids my age. He calls it "selective vegetarian". :) He's funny.
He asked Mom what kinds of things I was up to and when she told him some of the things I'm doing he was quite impressed. He said many of things I'm doing he doesn't expect to see until closer to age three and some not even until age four. He joked with Mom and said he thinks next year they'll have to adjust the charts for me and we'll be talking algebra. Then he joked and said, "I think we ought to dumb you down a little this summer." :)
He asked if I had any interest in potty training. Mom told him I'm not really into doing that yet and he assured her that was fine and to let me gain interest in that in my own time. He said it's best not to push it if I am a little anxious about it. It could lead to me having a bigger fear of it than anything.
So all in all I had a pretty good appointment. He said my heart and lungs sound good, my eyes, noes, ears and throat look good. I'm getting my 2 year molars. Developmentally I'm well ahead of the scale. I guess that's all good! :)
