Scarecrow Day at School

Today is Scarecrow Day at school. We got to dress up like a scarecrow and our teacher asked for a volunteer to make scarecrow cookies so Mom said she would. She made sugar cookies and decorated them up with wafer cookies, mini chocolate chips, chocolate sprinkles, candy corn and bran cereal. I thought they looked pretty awesome.

Here I am dressed up like a scarecrow and the cookies Mom made.

My First Homecoming Parade as a Lion

I've been to the Linn Mar homecoming parade a couple times before but this was my first one as an actual Lion. Mom and Dad asked if I wanted to walk in the parade with my school float or if I wanted to watch the parade and get candy. I decided I wanted to be in the parade and throw out candy. Mom was planning to walk with me but I said I wanted to Dad to. She didn't mind and Dad was happy to walk with me. Mom and Blythe watched the parade.

I had so much fun throwing candy out - especially when I saw someone I knew. I walked almost the whole way. There was just a little ways Dad had to carry me. It was a fun evening and I'm glad the rain held off!

Apple Orchard

Yesterday we and the the Holtans went to The Big Apple Orchard. I wasn't sure I wanted to go at first but after we went I was glad we did. I had a fun time picking apples and eating ice cream.

Parker and I each picked a full bag of apples. We had to find the reddest apples we could find on that tree and those were the ones we picked.

Family Time

Last weekend we went to Waterloo and hung out with our Dahlstrom family. We went to Uncle Dolly and Kari's house and I got to play with my Grandpa and Grandma and my cousins, Reese and Flynn.

It is always a fun time at their house. Of course Mom had to snap some pictures of us cousins.

Then we were lucky and had Grandpa Cota here twice in a week. He was here that Tuesday for my flag football game and then he came back again the next week and visited after his Dr. appt. I love when he visits our house.

Kindergarten Update

So far Kindergarten is going really well. It's almost been a month since I started and I am liking it. At first I thought they had too many weird rules and told Mom I didn't like it anymore but I got over that the next day.

I am getting the hang of all the procedures like drop off and pick up routine, the lunch room routine and all that stuff.

I am loving the things we are doing - even though I already know most of it like phonics, counting, colors etc...but I still have fun and there are some things that I'm not as familiar with that I'm getting better at like coins. My teacher said I'm a very good reader.

This week I was a PRIDE Star student. I got a certificate from our principal and got to pick out a pencil and a ruler for my hard work. I followed the PRIDE rules which are:

•Promote positive attitudes
•Respect yourself and others
•Insist on your personal best
•Discuss and listen actively
•Expect honesty and be trustworthy

Mom came to my classroom one day this week to help our teacher and class with Literacy Centers. Mom did the center where we practiced writing our name. It was fun to see Mom at school.

Today we had team pride day since it's the Iowa vs. Iowa State game tomorrow. We were supposed to wear our favorite team if we had a shirt. I was the only one in my class of 20 to wear Iowa State but I didn't care. :)

Here are a few pictures my teacher shared with parents on her blog.

Doing a rhyming word puzzle.
When you find two words that rhyme the pieces will fit together.

Using the SMART Board to play with virtual magnetic letters on the virtual fridge.

Sorting coins with my classmates.

Flag Football

I started flag football a couple week ago. It was supposed to be done this week but since we had to start a week late because of the weather being too hot we have one more week left.

We had two practices and so far two games - two more to go.

I am having a lot of fun playing and I really like when I get to carry or hand off the ball. I played my buddy Parker's team Thursday night. We had fun!

Awesome Weekend

I had such a fun weekend! Friday night I played outside with friends. Saturday I played some xBox then Mom and I went to the theater to watch Planes. I loved it! It was really funny.

When we came home from the movie I played outside with Parker in the pool, on the slip and slide and ran through the sprinkler. We played out there ALL DAY LONG! Saturday night we had a fire in the backyard. I roasted a hot dog to eat for dinner. Parker, Bella and I roasted marshmallows and I ate smores! YUM!!

I was ready for bed that night! Sunday I got up and played at home for awhile before we went out to lunch with Mogles and Holtans. After lunch Parker and I and our dads went to Lowes and we made the plane El Chupacabra from the movie Planes at their Build and Grow program. It was fun.

When we got home we played outside in the water again until dinner time. We played hard. It was such a fun weekend!!
