I have had such a wonderful week! It started Monday when my Grandma D. came to our house to visit! She and I got to hang out and play while Dad and Mom went to watch the football game with friends. Then I had my fun day playing outside that I shared earlier this week. Thursday my Grandpa C. came to our house to visit. We spent the whole day playing - he also taught me how to swing my bat better. :)
Today Mom and I went to story time at the library and I got to play with the toys afterward. I also got to bring home a couple books, a few videos and a cd. This afternoon Mom and I are heading out to make a short trip back to Harpers. So I get to see my Granny C., and hopefully some of my great grandparents and Grandpa and Grandma C. Mom said we won't have a lot of time for visits, but I'll let you know it goes. I just wanted to share what a great week it's been!

Fun day...
I had such a fun day today! I slept in until 9:15. Got up, Mom got me dressed and fed me a quick breakfast...banana bread flavored oatmeal...YUM!! We flew out the door to make it to story time at the Marion library. We met Mom's friend, Kelly and my friend, Drew there. After story time we all headed to the mall where Drew and I got to play in the mall play area. I was a little shy but eventually warmed up and played a little. After we played for awhile the four of us had lunch in the food court. Neither Drew or I wanted to eat our lunch - our moms both said we are that way sometimes. After lunch Kelly and Drew headed home. Mom and I did a little shopping. I got some clothes for fall and that I can wear for my pictures I am getting taken soon. Once we got back home I was wore out! I took about a 2 1/2 - 3 hour nap. It was a fun day!

Video
Thought I'd share this video. It's mostly of me playing outside yesterday but mom tacked a snippet from our visit to see the ducks awhile back, and a funny thing I do with my Halloween book at the end. Enjoy!

17 months - came and went....
I'm behind again! I turned 17 months old a week ago and I missed my post again! Sorry! I am trying to keep busy. One thing that is keeping me busy is learning and growing. I try to mimic almost everything mom and dad do, and repeat everything they say. I have learned several new words, too many to count or list. But one big one that Mom is thrilled about is I finally say "mama"! She said it warms her heart every time I say it.I have become a busy, climbing, running, talking but pretty well behaved little boy. Sometimes I have to go in timeout, but usually a warning is all I need. When I do end up in timeout I catch Mom and Dad trying not to laugh. I can be kind of a stinker there. I start out on my timeout mat, and then as the time ticks on I creep closer to the edge...maybe stand up and put my toes on the edge....a little closer....they might be off just a little. Or I lay down on my belly and reach my finger tips over the edge. Sometimes I get really brave and actually step off the mat completely. But as soon as Mom or Dad comes toward I scurry right back on it. I know I'm supposed to stay there, but sometimes I just need to test them.
Mom and Dad recently bought me a baseball tee. I really like playing with it.

I put the ball on it all by myself. I am getting better at hitting the ball. I usually hit the ball with the handle end of the bat, but I'm slowly learning to swing and hit with the other end. I also have mastered going down the slide on my climber by myself. (In this picture notice my sippy cup I set on my baseball tee) :)
I'm getting a little bit pickier about what I eat. I love fruit, peas and green beans are good - I especially like them cold. I still like broccoli. Any meat I eat must have some sort of sauce on it; ketchup, bbq, or honey mustard. Spaghetti is a favorite!
This week Mom and I went to story time at a local library for the first time. Mom had been trying to find something like this for us to do for awhile. She found this and it's broken down by age group so it's kids closer to the same age. The children's librarian came in and sang a couple songs with us. She then put some books down for us kids to play with while she read us a short story. After that we sang a couple more songs and then she got out a bag of toys. We were then given time to just play together and our moms could visit. It was a fun time and Mom said we'll be going back again. She said it will be a good opportunity for me to get together with other kids once a week. I'm looking forward to it!I don't really remember much about Halloween last year but Mom and Dad told me it's coming up again. I guess Mom picked up a costume for me - I had to try it on and at this point I am less than thrilled about it. It has a hood and when Mom put that up it really ticked me off! It could be interesting.

Weekend fun...
I had such a fun weekend! Grandma D. came to our house on Friday and stayed with me and Marlie while Mom and Dad went out of town to Ames. They stayed there and went to the game on Saturday. Grandma stayed with me and we hung out Saturday. Then my great-aunt Peggy, and daddy's cousin Ashley and her little girl, Kaylee came to our house to visit. We went out to dinner that night after Mom and Dad got home. Sunday everyone but Daddy got ready and went and did some shopping. Mom said I was a good boy on the shopping trip. I got a new outfit for my 18 month pictures coming up, a coat for winter, snow boots, my halloween costume, and a pair of shoes for me to grow in to. We all had a great day. Last night I was crazy! Mom and Dad said I was really wound up - just being goofy. They couldn't stop laughing at me. I was just having fun. Now it's Monday and it's back to our regular routine. Hope you had a good weekend too!

Catchin' up....
Sunday I stayed with Granny while Mom went to Kaylee's baby shower. We had fun! I was happy to get back home and see Daddy - and he was happy to see me too! But, when we got home I was HUNGRY! It was supper time and no one was doing anything about it. Mom was unloading the car and dad was just happy to see me but I got mad. I was screaming, stomping my feet and clapping my hands together really fast - trying to tell him to get a move on and get me some food! Once I ate....I was happy.
This past week Dad has been home with us. He took a week off from work and we've been just hanging out. We went to the little animal park but my favorite exhibit, the ducks, weren't really out. They were cleaning and refilling their ponds. That was kind of a let down but oh well.
I have been spending time playing outside. Mom and Dad got me a new tee. I like to put the ball on it and try and hit it. I'm getting better. We also got to draw with sidewalk chalk and I've been taking my fire truck out for rides up and down the sidewalk. The other night my neighbor, Matt joined us. It was fun. He was trying to tell me how to turn the steering wheel.
Mom snapped this picture of Dad and I both almost falling asleep while watching Diego. Dad was getting ready to go watch Iowa State's season opener so we had to be decked out in our cyclone gear!
