Pretty sick boy

Yesterday Mom picked me up from preschool like she does every Tuesday and Thursday. Normally when she gets there I finish reading my book (most days I take my sweet time doing so) before I go over and hug her. Yesterday I saw her, I got right up and went over to her, laid my head on her and said, "I'm glad you're here." She hugged me and noticed I felt warm. My teacher said I was acting fine all day - nothing out of the ordinary. When we got home Mom took my temp and it was over 102. Somewhere around 102.5 - 102.8. She gave me some Tylenol and lunch. I drank some juice but didn't want to eat. I took a nap but when I woke my temp was over 103 degrees - around 103.5.

I would just lay on the couch, barley open my eyes, not talk much but when I did was very soft and slow. Mommy said my eyes were kind of rolling around. I wouldn't really focus on anything. She knew I needed to go to the Dr. so she called and made an appointment (around 3:00) but they couldn't get me in until 7:00. After Mom hung up and checked on my again she didn't feel ok waiting that long. She called Daddy to come home because she was scared of how sick I was. Daddy came home and Mom had already started getting me ready to go to Urgent Care. We got in car and drove the short distance to the clinic. We were almost there, just pulling in the parking lot and I threw up all over myself. "Too many grapes" I said. :) I later told Dad the Mom gave me too many grapes. In her defense I wasn't really eating or drinking anything but I did want grapes so she gave me a small bowl full.

Mom and Dad got me cleaned up the best they could. Christine came to our rescue with clean clothes for me and I got in to see the Dr. While we waited I just laid in Daddy's arms. So limp and weak.

The Dr. said both my ears were red and my throat was REALLY red. She thought I looked "streppy" so she wrote me a prescription and told Mom I needed to drink Pedialtye because I was starting to look dehydrated.

As soon as we got home Dad went to get my medicine at the store. Mom gave me medicine for my fever and a juice box of Pedialyte. It wasn't long I started to perk up so Mommy gave me a bath. I ate some dinner
but the closer it got to bedtime I started getting lethargic and warm again. Daddy was putting me to bed and I had a temp of 103 and chills. I couldn't stop shivering. Mommy and Daddy both offered to lay in my room with me but I told them, "I just want to lay by myself." I fell asleep right away.

I woke up at 4:30 in the morning and thought it was morning time. Mom heard my door close and got up. I told her I wanted to "watch a show and have breakfast." Mom also thought it was morning - but when she looked at the clock she told me it was too early. It was still night time. I told her I wanted some juice so she gave me some more ibuprophen, got me a pedialyte juice box, we snuggled on the couch while I drank that and watched 2 Calliou shows. By the end of the 2nd one I was starting to perk up again and Mommy put me back to bed. I slept in until around 9:00.

I've been feeling SOOO much better today! I think my medicine from the Dr. is kicking in and my throat doesn't hurt anymore. The Dr. said they'd call if the strep test was positive. They haven't called yet so Mom is assuming it must have been negative.

Hopefully I'm on the mend and continue to just get better and better!

Ready to Play!

I've really been into sports lately and I'm very excited for the spring and summer. This year I'm old enough to play in the city recreational leagues for soccer, t-ball, football and basketball. Mommy got me all signed up and I can't wait! I went with her the other day to get me signed up and on the way in I asked, "will I get my stuff?" - meaning I wanted my "gear" for each sport. She explained I would just use the gear they provide for each sporting event. I was a little bummed because I really had my eye on the dark blue baseball helmet in the Department of Rec's brochure. :)

Random Funny Things

- I don't like Daddy's hairy belly and I tell him that all the time. I tell him, "You need to put a shirt on you know. I don't like your hairy belly."

- The other day I was getting dressed and didn't have my shirt on. I looked down, paused and touched my nipple and threw my arms straight out to the side and said, "I am Buzz Lightyear". I did it a few more times. Mommy thought it was so funny and had me go show daddy my 'button' that pops my wings out. :)

- The other night I got my magnetic letters out. I had them lined up on the floor, and was pretending to play Wheel of Fortune. I would call out a letter and then stick it up on the fridge. Soon Mommy and Daddy started playing too and they'd call out letters then I would put them on the fridge. I stopped and said, "I'll be right back." I ran to my room and came back with "Snugglie". I held it up to my waist while I put the letters up. Daddy asked, "What are you pretending that is?" I said, "My Vanna dress.". Mom laughed and Dad kind of rolled his eyes, grinned and said, "oh jeeze.". :)

I can read!

Here's a video of me reading the first book I read on my own - The Sad Cat. I just realized in my last update I didn't share that I started reading. About a month or so ago I caught on to putting all the letter sounds together to make words. That night Mom wrote about 20 different words on my Magna Doodle and I read them all. Mom and Dad knew I had been close for awhile making the sound each letter made but I just couldn't get it all put together until that one night it just clicked. Mom went to the library last weekend and brought home some easy read books and the first one I picked out I read front to back.

Mom came across this video of me from when I was about 18 months old. Turns out I could read back then too. I'm just a little clearer in my pronunciation now. :)

What I'm Up To

I haven't done an update lately on what I'm up to these days. We recently weighed and measured me. I was 40" tall and weighed 30 pounds with my pajamas on.

I'm still really enjoying preschool. I look forward to going every Tuesday and Thursday. When Mom picks me up from school we talk on our way home about my morning. She always asks what I learned and I always tell her 'books". I also always report if we played outside or in the gym. Mom thinks it's funny that when she gets there to get me we are sitting on the rug with a book and I always have to finish my book before I get up to go over to greet her.

Mom and Dad have been talking to me a lot lately about trying new things - as far as foods. I'm still not a big fan of it but I am getting better. This week we've had at least one new thing every night for dinner and I've tried them every night except tonight. Tonight was a chicken and cheese quesedilla and I just didn't want to try that. I passed up my chance at a chocolate chip cookie to avoid having to try it. But last night I at baby carrots and ranch and I did like that!

My biggest news is that I am 100% potty trained (Mom and Dad said "FINALLY!!")! For about two months now I have been going when I need to go all by myself or letting Mom and Dad know they need to take me. It's been a looong time coming but I have arrived! Last night was a big night for me! I still had been wearing a pull up to bed at night but had been waking up dry for the last couple weeks so Mom and Dad decided to have me start wearing underwear at night. First night was a success! We're all thinking we're done with pull ups! Mom swears the thing that made me turn the corner was advice her friend Melissa gave her. Melissa said she told Joey to listen to his body so Mom told me to "listen to my belly and when it tells me to go potty I need to go to the bathroom and use the potty.". Ever since then and still today when I have to go I say, "My belly is telling me to go potty." and I go in and go. Mom wishes she knew that trick several months ago. :)

Quick run down of my 'routine'. Wake around 7:30-8:00, breakfast of peanut butter bread, banana and chocolate milk. Every. Single. Morning! They are my staples. I am into watching Caillou so I watch an episode of that every morning. Lunch around noon, take a 2 hour nap between 1 - 1:30. Bedtime around 8:30.

I'm really into playing Kinect Sports 2 and Kinect Sports (again). Our game was broken for awhile but Mom and Dad bought another one and we recently got Kinect Sports 2. It's peaked my interest in actual sports too. I'm really in to playing football, bowling, soccer, basketball, 'running track and field', pretending drum sticks are javelins, and my foam Diego hockey puck is a discus. Oh and boxing of course! Mom and Dad were watching my on the camera in my room one night and they said they saw me standing on my bed pretending to box "Kiki" the Monkey. :)

Mom and Dad both have said my imagination is starting to go wild. I'm starting to pretend so many things. I think it's fun and I think Mom and Dad like to see what I can come up with.

That's all I can think of right now.

More snow fun!

Today we went sledding across the street in some open lots. There weren't drifts like there are in our yard and the hills a just little bigger. Actually

a perfect size for Parker and I. We both went sledding over there and had so much fun!

After sledding we went to the backyard and our dads helped us build a big, HUGE ! We thought it was pretty cool!

Another fun day of playing in the snow!

SNOW!!! FINALLY!!

I have been waiting and waiting to play in snow. Finally we got some snow and I have been having soooo much fun playing in it. I only got to go out for a little while on Friday because it was pretty cold but I helped Mom shovel and had fun jumping around in the snow.

Today it's much nicer out so we got to play for a long time outside. Mom, Dad, Marlie and I all went out to play. We tried sledding but it was kind of hard because of the drifts we got from the wind. Dad was nice and pulled me down the hill a few times but I thought it was funny to bail off the sled part way down the hill. We made a little snowman. Just a little one because it isn't the right kind of snow for a snowman. The snow next to the house was starting to melt some so it was sticky and worked ok. But after we made it Marlie came up and started pawing it down. Crazy dog!

After we played outside we came in and had some hot chocolate. YUM!! It's been such a fun day! Sounds like we might try sledding somewhere else tomorrow. I'll keep you posted!

Dad gave me a little push to see if I could go by myself. I didn't get very far though.

Snow dog! Marlie had fun chasing after snowballs and running through the snow.

Mmmm....hot chocolate!!
